Bachelors & Spinsters tradition becomes sexy singles party

A by-invitation-only annual D.C. social calendar tradition for the last 30 years, the annual Bachelors and Spinsters Ball was once one of Georgetown’s most exclusive benefits.  A printed paper invitation came from one of the event hosts, rumored to be named to the committee until death… or the “death sentence” of getting hitched!

These days, while invites are still mailed, most hear of the happening digitally – though still no Facebook or Twit-vite.  Chairmen Christopher van Roijen and Chris Larsin stand strong while the old guard seems to have given way, watching both the bachelors and the “spinsters” getting younger year to year.

Held this year at the City Tavern Club, sexy single social butterflies mixed and mingled (amongst some real winged ones!) at the Grey Goose Eden Lounge, Heineken Beer Garden, Barefoot Bubbly Nook, and a Vitamin Water Photo Booth, which took the 2010 event and its open bar over the top.
