Your New “Man of the District” Is…
Last Thursday night at Salazar DC on 14th Street, DC crowned its Man of the District… Gregory Jack, Mr. Penn Quarter!
Created about a decade ago to support local contestants vying for the Miss District of Columbia title in the Miss America organization, Man of the District is now an annual event benefiting The Miss America and Miss DC Scholarship Programs.
This year, the gents took on the titles of the ladies who nominated them.
Anthony Cruz (Navy Yard), Brice Brazell (Eastern Market), Darrell Williams (Capitol Hill), Jack Hall (Embassy Row), David Awe (Franklin Park), Diop Harris III (Capitol South), Gregory Jack (Penn Quarter), and Jack Thomas (Dupont Circle), Nicholas Stanton (Mount Vernon), and William Shivers (Georgetown) all competed in four phases of competition — fundraising, talent, formal wear, and on-stage question — as Miss District of Columbia 2023 Jude Maboné emceed.
Highlights of the night included Anthony Cruz doing bicep curls as he recalled country capitals shouted at him from the judges table; Nicholas Stanton’s inspirational motivational speech talent; and Darrell Williams’ captivating monologue.
The finalists were:
Man of the People (Top Fundraiser), Brice Brazell (Eastern Market)
Mot Talented Man, Gregory Jack (Penn Quarter)
Best Dressed Man (Formal Wear), Nicholas Stanton (Mount Vernon)
Crowd Favorite, Anthony Cruz (Navy Yard)
Man of the District, Gregory Jack (Penn Quarter)
Collectively, Man of the District contestants helped raise over $3,000 for the American Heart Association and the Miss District of Columbia Scholarship Organization.
