Santa Rosa Taqueria Re-Opens in a New Capitol Hill Location
Just a few steps away from its original location, Santa Rosa Taqueria (301 Pennsylvania Avenue SE) re-opened on Capitol Hill last week. Grand Opening guests were treated to samples of the new menu from Chef Brian Lacayo and Catherine Mendelsohn, margaritas by notable mixologist Gina Chersevani, and music from authentic mariachi!
“We are thrilled to open our doors again to the neighborhood with a brand-new look, feel, and menu. Those who loved Santa Rosa before are sure to love our new happy hour with tons of exciting cocktail options and samplers perfect for gathering with friends. We’re looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces,” said Micheline and Catherine Mendelsohn.
Modern interpretations of traditional Mexican flavors are highlighted on the menu, with favorites including a Piled High Volcano Nacho Bar with house-made tortilla nachos and a selection of toppings, a Birria Taco with cheesy pot roast and consommé, and a less traditional Roasted Harissa Cauliflower Taco that reflects Santa Rosa’s commitment to serving fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Not only does the new Santa Rosa Taqueria boast a spacious dining room, including an upstairs dining area, but also a 60-seat outdoor patio is opening just in time for alfresco feasting.
The taqueria is open for lunch and dinner service — with weekend brunch coming soon.
And opening weekend was bountiful in many ways. Proceeds from food and drink sales made during April 16th – 17th were donated to World Central Kitchen in support of relief efforts in Ukraine.
