Museum of the Dog Pop-Up for President’s Day Wknd, Plus New Pooch Package at the Watergate
This President’s Day, the Watergate Hotel has gone to the dogs! Throughout the weekend, the historic hotel honors famous Presidential Pooches (and some obscure knowledge surrounding them) while also celebrating new luxe amenities for furry four-legged Watergate guests.
“Presidential Pooches,” an exclusive showcase from the American Kennel Club’s Museum of the Dog is on display in the hotel. Among the items to be seen are art, memorabilia, and artifacts relating to FDR’s Fala, The Bush’s beloved Miss Beazley, Millie and more.
Dog lovers — and their canine companions — are invited to stop by anytime during the weekend to speak with former Antiques Roadshow appraiser and now AKC’s Museum of the Dog Executive Director/CEO Alan Fausel who loves sharing quirky and special background stories about Presidential pooches. (Ask him about Millie Bush going on to become a NYT’s best-selling “author”!)
While you’re at the Watergate Hotel — thinking less Nixon and Impeachment, more Nixon and his dog Checkers — check out the property’s newest pet-friendly luxuries, like in-room dog beds and water/food bowls, access to dog walking and sitting services from popular local Wagtime, and Chef-prepared dog meals.
While pups have been invited to stay at the Watergate since its reopening in 2016, this new pooch package is primed to make pets feel “Presidential” even after the exhibit comes to a close, and is available at just $125 flat rate per stay.
