Modus Hotels Breaks Ground on New ‘Pod’ Hotel Concept in Penn Quarter

Walking on H Street NW, it might be easy to pass by this construction site without giving it a second thought. But the plans for this particular space drew a gathering of interested people last Tuesday morning.

Modus Hotels, a DC-based hotel management group, invited VIPs to a groundbreaking ceremony for an innovative hotel project projected for completion in Fall 2016. What makes this hotel project different from the norm?  Rooms will be a lot smaller… and more affordable!  In other words, this Modus Property is to be a “pod hotel,” all the rage in Asia and Western Europe according Aaron Katz, Modus Hotels’ President and CEO.

Those involved with the project say this new generation hotel will be an appealing destination for Millenials and foreign business travelers.
