Hay Adams Celebrates the Arts with Music Salons
We know and love the Hay-Adams as an independent luxury hotel in downtown DC with views of the White House, heaps of fascinating history, and of course its old-school subterranean “Off the Record” bar.
But did you know that the Hay-Adams also hosts musical salons, just as John Hay and Henry Adams hosted lively salons in their homes (where the hotel now stands) in the late 1800s?!
Since we happened upon one of the venue’s elegant musical gatherings, we’ve been excited to share more about the semi-regular series of literacy and musical events.
If you love music; if you want to immerse yourself in history; if you enjoy relaxing in the early evening before heading home or out to other fun; or if you just want to feel grown-up and accomplished — this is your secret spot. (Now go and tell everyone like we did!)
There is a rare early evening performance by PostClassical Ensemble that will explore the “varied landscape of American art song, featuring works by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, H. Leslie Adams, Lori Laitman, Tom Cipullo and Paquito d’Rivera” in the Hay-Adams Room on Monday, March 13. Doors open at 5:30. Tickets $60, here.
