Go Bolder with Your Cherry Blossoms In This Art Installation
DC, you’re about to just be able to GO OUTSIDE and revel in those Cherry Blossoms. But if somehow that’s not enough for you… you’ll want to check out this kind of trippy/techy art installation that may make you feel like you jumped headfirst into the anime version of Blossom season.
According to ARTECHOUSE, “Sakura Yume // Cherry Blossom Dream (running March 15 – May 6, 2018) is a large-scale seasonal installation from ARTECHOUSE’s creative team, where elements of Japanese culture and tradition become experiences at the intersection of art and technology.”
On your multi-sensory journey, you’ll step into a moonlit, floating environment with larger than life koi fish and colorful cherry blossom petals that react to you. As you walk a 3D narrow lantern lit “street,” it even responds to your footsteps!
And if all of that art works up your appetite, you can even order up an edible experience. Your sit down bento-box meal will be enhanced through interactive table projections and sound elements.
Tickets $8-15, daily with Daytime Admission 10am-5pm and Evening Admission 5:30pm/7pm-11pm. Exhibit is open to all ages. Evening sessions are 21+. BLOOM: Immersive Dining Experience, $85, takes place weekly on Thursday, Friday & Saturday during dedicated session at 5:30pm.
