Hi-Lawn “Boot ‘N Scoot” @ Hi-Lawn
Oct 14 all-day

Yeehaw, y’all! Hi-Lawn, the expansive 1000-person rooftop bar atop Union Market, is hosting its inaugural “Boot ‘N Scoot” – DC’s only country music fest, from October 13-15. The open-air green space will host three days of country fun, including live music, bull riding, line dancing, roping, BBQ specials and more.

Kick up your boots to live music from multi-Grammy nominated Frank and Jillian Solivan trio, local country star Wil Gravatt, 4-time Wammie award-winning Melissa Quinn Fox, and more artists to be announced soon.

Learn the boot scootin’ boogie with nightly line dancing classes, and hone your lasso skills with weekend roping lessons.

A mechanical bull will be set up on the lawn, for those who want to get buck wild and impress their friends with how long they can hold on.

For those who work up an appetite at the Hi-Lawn hoedown, DC-based Rocklands BBQ (home to some of the area’s best BBQ for more than 30 years) will serve up its beloved meats and sides throughout the festival. There will also be themed drinks, and other vendors to peruse goods.

Tickets to Hi-Lawn’s Boot ‘N Scoot are $20 per day (but currently just $10 at special “early bird” pricing, with a discount for a 3-day pass at just $25): https://www.eventbrite.com/e/boot-n-scoot-at-hi-lawn-tickets-723409054957. Calico’s 3rd Annual Late Harvest Festival @ Calico
Oct 15 @ 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Calico is celebrating the changing of the seasons with its 3rd Annual Late Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 15 from 1pm to 9 p.m. The urban backyard in Blagden Alley once again hosts its welcome party for cooler weather, with a free-to-attend Sunday afternoon fall fest complete with pumpkin painting, caramel apples, hot cocktails, autumnal fare and more festive seasonal fun.

There’s no need to head to the pumpkin patch this year. Guests can pick their very own pumpkins from Calico’s pop-up patch and decorate them with complimentary painting supplies.

The fall fest will serve as the preview of Calico’s new seasonal menu, featuring autumnal cookout fare from Chef Nathan Beauchamp, such as such as mugs of soup and chili. There will also be fresh local apples with sweet, buttery caramel for dipping.

Seasonal libations will range from hot drinks from bar director Ian Fletcher such as spiked cider, Oktoberfest and fall beers, plus non-alcoholic hot cider.

Rounding out the lively festivities will be a festive photo area complete with leaves, pumpkins and corn stalks for the perfect photo-op.

Local DC Brau will pour complimentary seasonal beer tastings for adults (21+) from 4-7pm, who can also purchase cans to take home.

Calico’s Late Harvest Festival is free to attend and open to the public, with all pumpkins, food and beverage sold a la carte. Guests can place a free RSVP on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/3rd-annual-late-harvest-festival-at-calico-tickets-724116109777.
