Pierre Garçon’s Third Annual All-White Clothing Charity Event @ Millenium Building
Jun 4 @ 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM

On Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. ET, NFL wide receiver Pierre Garçon will host the Third Annual All-White Clothing Charity Event benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) at the Millennium Building (1909 K St. NW). The rooftop event will team up Washington football players, NFL executives, community leaders and Washington notables.

As part of Garçon’s continued involvement in supporting at risk youth, his partnership with BGCGW seeks to create a stronger generation of future leaders across the nation. Last year, Garçon’s charity event raised $100,000 for BGCGW.

“I’m dedicated to the organization and helping boys and girls of all backgrounds become responsible adults,” Garçon said. “Organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington helped get me where I am today, so now’s my time to give back.”

High profile attendees from the first and second annual events include Washington Wizard John Wall, former DC Mayor Vincent Gray, hip hop legend Biz Markie and over 20 Redskins, among them RG3, Ryan Kerrigan, Alfred Morris, Kirk Cousins, Trent Williams, Brandon Meriweather, Kory Lichtensteiger, Kai Forbath, Colt McCoy and Niles Paul.

“Pierre not only supports us financially but also donates his time to our kids,” said Paul Alagero, Chief Development Officer for BGCGW. “During these challenging times, he makes the perfect mentor and role model for our members.”

Attendees this year will have access to meet and mingle with over half of Garçon’s confirmed teammates and enjoy complimentary drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres, live and silent auctions and a live performance by a surprise musical guest.

With the help of top sponsors The Tower Companies, Paisano’s, Burger 7, Brett Johnson Collection, Garçon intends to raise more funds for the BGCGW and their mission. Tickets are $250 and can be purchased at: http://www.bgcgw.org/pierre-garcon-all-white-charity-event/.

Andras Fekete’s “maximal minimalist” ensemble BOAT BURNING plays an intricate hybrid of composition and improvisation for massed-electric guitars, where deceptively simple passages performed on a profusion of instruments – sometimes fifty or more guitars – produce shimmering towers of densely-stacked harmonics. The result is powerful, evocative music that combines the widescreen sweep of classical with the sheer physical thrall of punk.

Pride in Preservation: Cocktails in the Castle @ Heurich House
Jun 11 @ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The Heurich House Museum will host its second annual Pride in Preservation: Cocktails in the Castle event on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm. This official Capital Pride Week reception will honor the National Park Service (NPS) LGBTQ Heritage Initiative and feature remarks on recent developments in the program. Guests are invited to celebrate with cocktails courtesy of Green Hat Gin and True Tonics while dining on hors d’oeuvres presented by Union Kitchen Catering. The museum, also known as the “Brewmaster’s Castle,” is a historic landmark in Dupont Circle, the neighborhood recognized as the birthplace of DC’s LGBTQ community. Admission includes drinks, hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to explore the historic home of DC’s most successful brewer, Christian Heurich. Tickets are $35 per person and may be purchased at www.heurichhouse.org/pride.

The museum is grateful for the support of the following sponsors: Capital Area Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Green Hat Gin, Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets, Latino GLBT History Project, Rainbow Heritage Network, True Tonics, Union Kitchen Catering, and Wells Fargo Bank.

The NPS LGBTQ Heritage Initiative explores how the legacy of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals can be recognized, preserved, and interpreted for future generations. On May 30, 2014, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell announced a new theme study to identify places and events associated with the story of LGBTQ Americans for inclusion in the parks and programs of the NPS. The NPS LGBTQ Heritage Initiative is the latest effort in the proud NPS tradition of the documentation and interpretation of civil rights history. Recognizing that identities and communities are historically situated, the LGBTQ Initiative acknowledges lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer citizens in the United States, their contributions to American life and culture and their efforts to create a safe and legitimate social and political place in American society. The NPS has already recognized the Stonewall Inn in New York City as a National Historic Landmark, and listed the Dr. Franklin E. Kameny residence in Washington, DC on the National Register of Historic Sites. For more information about the initiative, visit: http://www.nps.gov/history/heritageinitiatives/LGBThistory/

About Heurich House Museum: The Heurich House Museum preserves the legacy of Christian Heurich and enriches the cultural life of Washington, DC. The mansion was built from 1892-4 by German immigrant, local brewer, and philanthropist Christian Heurich (1842-1945). Recognized as Washington, D.C.’s most successful brewer, he ran the Chr. Heurich Brewing Co. until his death at 102.  The mansion is notable for its technological innovations, original interiors, and rich archival collection of one of the most important local families.  The museum, located at 1307 New Hampshire Avenue in Dupont Circle, is open for regular public events and public tours Thursday through Saturday at 11:30 am, 1:00 and 2:30 pm. Private tours and event rentals are also available. For more information, visit www.heurichhouse.org or call 202-429-1894.
