Nats Home Opener

It was a bittersweet afternoon for the Nationals Home Opener today. All set for a great game against the Phillies, and with a packed stadium of fans on both sides, the tragic happened. Sportscaster and Hall of Famer Harry Kalas collapsed in the broadcast booth at the ballpark this afternon and was pronounced dead by the time he arrived at GW Hospital.

He will be remembered as a beloved voice of both the NFL and MLB, and ironically was just awarded his 2008 World Series Ring last Wednesday, in what was his final home game in Philadelphia.

The tragedy put a somber tone on this afternoon’s game, which was played well by the Nationals, but not quite well enough. Yet the seats were full and a sea of red waved their rally caps to the bitter end.

*On a personal note, we find out if I got the Nationals weekend female host position on Wednesday, so that only gives you two days left to vote for me. Either text N3 to 71855 or vote online here.
