Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Madisons & Mimosas

I got together with my gorgeous girlfriends for a morning brunch to kick off the new year Sunday morning at Town Hall.
I get a lot of questions about where beautiful, talented, intelligent, inspired, and inspirational women can find each other… the Madison is one of those places for me. And we happen to be in a membership recruitment period – though I have no idea how many spaces are available…(membership is capped at 100).
Isn’t having fun, fearless, fabulous female friends THE BEST!?! Another New Year’s Resolution is inevitable – to make more time for girlfriends in 2008!

    I just checked the Madison’t website because I have been looking for such a group. But I just turned 31 so I guess I can’t join. Is there a similar group for the over 30 crowd? 🙂

    I don’t know that there is a specific group for the “over 30 crowd” but there definitely is a place for you!
    I can really only speak to organizations to which I belong or have had some interaction… but I absolutely LOVE being a member of the Junior League (which is more “community service” in nature, but definitely fosters a sense of friendship and family among women, of all ages, in the city. I also love the ladies of LDC (now, Ladies DC… orginally Ladies Dinner Club)who meet generally once a month to have a meal and share “sisterhood” with each other; They have a ton of fun and teach each other a LOT – I got my dentist recommendation from an LDC member!
    Maybe try ’em out and let me know what you think…

    Thanks you’re sweet. There should be more people like you in this world. I will definitely look into LDC and the Junior League. I really need a group like that, where warm, friendly, successful, intelligent women connect and share. I will keep you posted 🙂
