In a LIVE audition event free and open to the public, 21 finalists will performMonday, January 27 in the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s first ever Sing Into Spring Competition, hosted by former American Idol contestant Justin Guarini. Finalists will audition for the opportunity to perform in the 2014 National Cherry Blossom Festival Paradeâ presented by Events DC and will sing in front of a renowned panel of judges including Joe Coleman, former lead vocalist of vocal group The Platters, Louise Robinson of Sweet Honey and the Rock, and Darik Kristofer, afternoon host on 94.7 Fresh FM.

 

Up to four solo or group vocalists from the Washington-metropolitan area will be selected by the judges to spotlight their talent among a standout lineup of celebrity entertainers, marching bands from across the country, energetic performers, giant colorful helium balloons, and elaborate floats in a magnificent musical showcase exclusively performed during the finale event of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

 

The Parade is the largest spectator event throughout the Festival’s 25-day duration, and will be held from10:00am to noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
