Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. DC’s Crush on James Cameron

Academy Award Winning Filmmaker and Director James Cameron may have created his own Avatar clone for his recent trips to DC – larger than life and capable of major multitasking. But though he seems to be everywhere, the city can’t seem to get enough of him.

While in town for Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary festivities, the man/the myth/the legend attended a climate rally on the Mall, testified on Capitol Hill regarding climate change and also managed a prominent appearance at the Imagine Cup Finals, sponsored by Microsoft.

As tech teams from across the country made their final presentations at the Newseum, Cameron stopped in for a review of their projects… and to praise Microsoft, which he credited with some of Avatar‘s success.
