“So many big egos in one room” quipped Mika Brzezinski, who emceed the Atlantic Council‘s 50th anniversary and Annual Awards Dinner at the Ritz Carlton alongside colleague Joe Scarborough Tuesday evening.  The black-tie fete brought together DC’s elite, including General James Jones, Senator Chuck Hagel, General Colin Powell, General Brent Scowcroft, and Charlie Rose.

Vice President Joseph Biden offered the night’s keynote address, and praised the Atlantic Council for its “efforts to meet the challenges of our day,” while giving a nod to the Council’s honorees: “relentless champions of the idea of American leadership.”

Placido Domingo, General Director of The Washington National Opera, accepted the evening’s award for Distinguished Artistic Leadership while Muhtar Kent, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Coca-Cola Company, received the Distinguished Business Leadership award. Admiral James Stavridis, Supreme Allied Commander Europe and Commander United States European Command, took home the award for Distinguished Military Leadership.
