Woolly Mammoth’s Dinner on Stage Makes a Triumphant Return
After a seven-year intermission, Woolly Mammoth’s Dinner on Stage is back, and it’s taking a bow. The beloved fête welcomed 100 guests for a night of backstage buzz, theatrical flair, and fundraising finesse, netting $125,000 for the company’s artistic programming and community initiatives.

Hosted by Elizabeth Friedman and David S. Cohen, the evening honored DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson for his decades of championing the arts. A distinguished lineup of theatre leaders and creatives (including Managing Director Kimberly Douglas, Artistic Director Reggie D. White, Board Chair Julie Rios, and playwright Max Posner) joined the festivities.

The curtain-raising festivities included cocktails in the Green Room, a peek inside the Scene Shop, and a three-course dinner served right on the set of Steve Yockey’s VENUS. Then came the after-party: dancing, desserts, and a backstage treasure trove of costumes, props, and scripts. VIPs even enjoyed tarot readings by Sunsoaked Energy.

“Dinner On Stage is BACK,” declared Douglas. Since launching in October 2008, the event has brought together theatre diehards and curious newcomers alike. Its return marked more than a memorable meal; it reaffirmed a shared commitment to keeping Washington’s performing arts scene bold, vibrant, and accessible.
