Tucked away in the alley behind Café Milano is a performance playground.  SandboX, a special events venue in Georgetown, is spending December serving as a modern jazz club featuring live performances in conjunction with the annual Georgetown GLOW exhibit and the Filament live dance performances nearby.

Open for only six shows, this intimate special event experience is perfect for music aficionados to enjoy quality entertainment, libations and light fare during an evening of jazz. And it could even lead to regular jazz performances in the space, says Bob Elliott, owner of SandboX, saying: “I think, as the song goes – This could be the start of something good.”

Local, award-winning and nationally recognized jazz musicians have already started lighting up the stage with superb and engaging performances.  But you can still snag seats at the following performances:

Friday December 20 – Chris Barrick

Chris Barrick is a percussionist, jazz vibraphonist, drummer and educator with a wide variety of experience in multiple genres of music.

Saturday December 21 – Singer Sharon Clark and her Group

Washington, D.C. standout Sharón Clark has brought festival and concert audiences to their feet across the U.S. and Europe.

Friday December 27 – Elijah Balbed and Dave Manley

Saturday December 28 – Steve Herberman Trio

Steve Herberman is a guitarist with first-rate touch, and admirable facility, who achieves exceptional sound on his instrument.  And in the forest of guitarists that’s no mean feat.” -Willard Jenkins, The Independent Ear (Feb. 07).
