Sofitel Shows Off Renovations with ‘Jackie-O’ French Flair
Sofitel has been in DC for nearly 13 years, but it seems almost brand new now as the luxury hotel recently underwent sweeping upgrades that completed early this year. Designers wanted to keep the contemporary pieces that made Sofitel look and feel elegant while also providing a more modern appeal to visitors. We’ll call it… French impression meets American culture and flavor.
To celebrate the renovation, Sofitel invited guests to an open house event to see the newly renovated Presidential Suite. The evening’s theme — Jackie Kennedy — captured some elements of the wife of our 35th President’s signature style. Her trademark love for the color blue is displayed in the presidential suite through the blue rug, chairs, sofa and even the book covers! Jackie’s elegance and sophistication is suggested through a memorable quote displayed on the mirror in the main bedroom.
Guests were treated with wine and Sofitel signature So Me Bee cocktails (made with honey from Sofitel’s own bees that produce on the roof from pollen collected from the White House garden!). Delicious pastries — from Mediterranean Bakalava to French Canele — cured sweet tooth temptations, though everyone took home a bit of creamy honey just in case any longings lingered.
Sofitel’s renovated rooms are available now… or check out Sofitel’s “French Fridays” on the patio, which will include live bands for guests and visitors to enjoy.
