Safeway Offering Free AIDS Testing for World AIDS Day
Did you know that, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), at the end of 2018 an estimated 1.2 million people in the United States had HIV, but about 14% (or 1 in 7) people living with HIV in the U.S. don’t know they have it?
In honor of World AIDs Day (Tuesday, December 1), Safeway’s Pharmacy, in partnership with community organization Us Helping Us (UHU), is offering FREE HIV testing.
At the Safeway Pharmacy Wellness Room (2845 Alabama Avenue SE), on December 1 from 11AM to 5PM, free testing will be available to all who wish to receive it — because early HIV diagnosis is crucial.
In addition to providing the testing, UHU will also provide free condoms and information about their services. Safeway Pharmacy will offer information about their HIV Care and Prevention Program (available at 26 area Safeway pharmacies).
World AIDS Day is a day to unite in the fight to end the HIV epidemic, support people living with HIV, and honor those lost to AIDS.
