New ‘Spirit of Washington’ Christened
On March 28, 2017, Entertainment Cruises, Washington, DC welcomed its newest 175-foot yacht the Spirit of Washington, with an official christening ceremony at the yacht’s new home on Pier 4.
Ceremony host Tommy McFly of 94.7 Fresh FM lead the program which included a dockside welcome by VP and GM, Entertainment Cruises Mary Rinaldo, a Presentation of the Colors by the United States Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard, a performance of the National Anthem by Entertainment Cruises’ own Jasmine Sessoms, an invocation by Director, Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs Minister Thomas L. Bowen, remarks from guest speaker Founder & CEO, PN Hoffman Monty Hoffman and CEO, Entertainment Cruises Kenneth Svendsen, an official denaming/renaming ceremony by Captain Nate Handy and formal christening by Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. A celebratory dockside happy hour and inaugural sunset cruise followed.
March also marks the 30th anniversary of the Spirit of Washington brand serving guests in Southwest DC. The new Spirit of Washington is a four-level yacht with the capacity to serve 800 guests.
Guests at the Christening event enjoyed drinks and fresh crab cakes, shrimp, steak and a variety of desserts including treats from Georgetown Cupcake as they took in stunning panoramic views of the DC waterfront and took full advantage of the vessel’s third level District Lounge and open-air patio deck.
On-board entertainment included a DJ who played a variety of music throughout the happy hour and cruise.
