Introducing Union Market’s New Lab 1270

No, it’s not the location of some crazy SciFi experiment.  Just a crazy cool shopping one.

Lab 1270 is the name of the newly launched retail (plus!) concept adjacent to Union Market… a space “where national retailers and members of the DC creative community have combined forces to form a lively retail, experience, and work space,” according to a release about the project.  In other words, it makes a prime spot for all of those experimental pop-ups emerging brands love to bring to the Nation’s Capital.

Just in time for the holidays, Washingtonians can shop confirmed vendors like Ann Mashburn CapsuleCraft Kombucha, Dunn Lewis MCLisa Shirk, Living Threads, Master Williams, Niko+Ava, Ron David, S3 ActiveSouth BlockThursday Boots, and Time Off, in the same vicinity where they can join a motorcycle club, try a Craft Kombucha bar, make a t-shirt, be part of a live #ACreativeDC art installation, learn to code, see the results of DC public Library’s Fab Lab and support the young artists of the KIPP school.

Each of Lab 1270’s rotating and semi-permanent retailers has between 50 to 200 square feet of retail space.  Holiday activations include portrait sessions with Salt & Sundry and photographer Emma McAlary, mistletoe giveaways, gift wrapping, wreath and garland workshops, and more.  The venue will also house pop-up dinner events, yoga classes and various activations throughout the winter.
