Hulkower Hold’Em & Tailgate Party
You don’t need to go to Las Vegas to gamble and get a thrill out of hanging out with Lady Luck.
Last week, the Colon Cancer Alliance co-hosted a poker tournament at the District Architecture Center – the event was called the Hulkower Hold’Em & Tailgate Party.
This wasn’t your ordinary poker game – players were competing for first place, where the winner would receive tickets to the upcoming Super Bowl game! The second place winner won a tailored jacket and the third place winner won four tailored shirts.
The atmosphere during the poker tournament was filled with poker players playing the game with exceptional focus, seriousness, and a touch of camaraderie. That doesn’t mean that the poker tournament was silent, though. There was much dialogue to indicate that things were running smoothly!
Even those players that left the game did so with good sportsmanship… after a few cries early on of “Rebuy!” as a way to stay in the game.
Although there were a few women and even an 11-year-old at the poker tables, this was an event that attracted a lot of men. There was banter, brotherhood, and the airing of the football game between the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers… And remember, the poker tournament was also a fundraising event – proceeds from the event benefited Colon Cancer Alliance.
