Dominion’s Märzen Wins Best Brew at Capitol City Brewing Oktoberfest

This fall season, hundreds of festivals goers floodedthe Village at Shirlington for the Capitol City Brewing Company’s 17th Annual Mid-Atlantic Oktoberfest. Traditional German garb, authentic Bavarian brews and bratwurst collaborated with more than 65 local breweries for the best Oktoberfest in the DMV. In addition to sampling from more than 100 beer taps, festivalgoers enjoyed performances by Alpine dancers and the friendship of four-footed friends.

A panel of BJCP (Beer Judge Certified Program) certified judges evaluated 2017’s Oktoberfest brews.

Kristi Griner,Brewmaster at Capitol City Brewing Company, held the crowd in anticipation as she announced the winner– Dominion’s Märzen brew.

The bronze medal went to O’Connor’s of Norfolk and silver medal went to Würzburger (can’t get more german than that!)

Notable breweries in attendance include Fair Winds, Port City, Starr Hill, Heritage, Hardywood, Gordon Biersch, Flying Dog, DuClaw, Union, Blue Mountain, New District and Chaos Mountain.
