DC VegFest Draws Largest Crowds to Date at Nationals Park
Compassion Over Killing presented its annual DC VegFest Sunday afternoon (8/11/19). Drawing its largest crowd to date, the free annual event to celebrate plant-based eating filled Nationals Park with some 120 vendors and exhibitors showcasing the vegan lifestyle.
Food, music and discussion — like keynotes from author Tracye McQuirter (Any Greens Necessary), Neil Barnard (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicene), and Brenda Sanders (Executive Director Afro Vegan Society) — were big draws, in addition to cooking demos from Joe Yonan and Bev Kuman.
DC comedian Sean Savoy brought some levity to the cause with his performance on the main stage. The grass covered “barking lot” was definitely the cutest place to hang out. And the first 1,000 people in line left with a fully-loaded tote bag!
