The Willard Intercontinental Hotel celebrates 200 years this year, and among the historic happenings available at this iconic DC gathering place is the renewed offering of its monthly History Happy Hours.
The Round Robin Bar has been a lively meeting place for DC’s political and social elite since Abraham Lincoln. Long celebrated as one of the best in the Capital, this legendary bar remains a fashionable downtown spot for local movers and shakers — as well as in the know Beltway visitors.
Held on the third Thursday of every month, the Willard’s History Happy Hours are two-hour three-cocktail events that distill American history through drinks, while also providing attendees a hands-on class on the art of cocktail making.
Typically led by Jim Hewes, a venerable mixologist and legendary bartender at The Willard’s iconic Round Robin Bar for over thirty years, and featuring rotating historians, History Happy Hour offers both a a mixology and history lesson.
