All About That New AC Hotel w/ Rooftop Resto ‘Smoke & Mirrors’
Just in time for Spring, sightseeing, and social gathering season, a sleek new Capitol Hill hotel with a gorgeous rooftop has opened to offer comfortable stays, smoky creative cocktails, and that view everyone comes to DC to see.
The brand new AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard officially opened last week, a third AC to serve within DC proper. These upscale business hotels are known for having an approachable average daily rate and a trendy “European-inspired classic modern” design. But while the AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard is convenient, it’s certainly the rooftop bar and restaurant that gives it its cool factor.

Smoke & Mirrors must be a cheeky name, because this indoor-outdoor capstone of the 11-story hotel doesn’t seem to be hiding anything. In fact, it welcomes guests for dinner and weekend brunch while offering one of the best vantage points of the city for Capitol views.
Here, guests can lounge by a fireplace or heater or sit under the sun, sip handcrafted cocktails, and dine on next-level noshes while taking in everything from the Capitol Building to the National Cathedral.
Menu favorites include Beef Tartar topped with garlic aioli and potato chips; Diver Scallops, served with frisee, smoked pork belly, 62-degree egg, salmon roe, pickled shallots, and sherry… and don’t sleep on dipping the Potatoes 71 into the Baked Crab Fondue!!
Smoke & Mirrors is open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00 a.m. to midnight on weekends.
