W Hotel’s New Basement Bar Takes ‘Root’
Sometimes to happen upon a rare find, you have to go underground.
Opening tonight, Root Cellar is in the bottom floor of the W Hotel’s Pinea restaurant.  This one’s your not-so-typical basement bar that gets to the root of your barrel aged bias.
The menu boasts 90Â whiskeys, Â and you’ll want to try every one this winter… after making your way through the custom cocktail creations. Â We recommend the Old Square (don’t worry — you won’t become one!) and the Barrel Aged Negroni.
If you’re in the mood for food, you should know that Pinea will host a monthly dinner pairings series at the bar showcasing their selections of whiskeys, scotches and wines.  Or stop in daily from 5-8 for happy hour specials and half-price Mediterranean “merenda” menu items.
