Ways to Fête Shakespeare’s Birth This Week, All Month
The Folger Shakespeare Library usually does an all-day open house to fête Shakespeare’s birthday in April. But… COVID. So this year, the Library is joining with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare’s Birthday Trust for the world’s largest celebration of Shakespeare.
Through the #ShareYourShakespeare tag on social media, revelers will share images of themselves reading plays by the Bard, creating foods he may have eaten in their kitchens, dressing up as Will, or even acting out his works.
On Thursday, April 23rd, Folger will also produce live digital events throughout the day.
And if you just can’t get enough Shakespeare, the Shakespeare Theatre Company now has The Shakespeare Hour every Wednesday, from April 22nd through May 13th at 7:30 pm live on Fuze where STC Artistic Director Simon Godwin and Resident Dramaturg Drew Lichtenburg, along with special guests, examine the illuminations of the Bard. These nights are free for STC members and subscribers and $10 for all others.
