Two Food Network stars — founders and chefs Solomon Johnson (AKA Chef Swoop) and Mike Woods — recently opened a Caribbean and Cajun Creole fusion spot, The Bussdown, honoring both of their backgrounds, right here in their hometown of DC’s Western Market.
Described as “pan-African,” what began in a ghost kitchen and then really got started in California has impressed DC soul-food seekers looking for unique flavors with that craveable quality.
Head here for a variety of delicious dishes, from coconut curry chicken to sofrito shrimp, “gangsta mac,” and even fried plantains.
