‘Stranger Things’ Dwellings — and Doughnuts Near You

Fans of Stranger Things may soon be able to stay in the Byers family’s home (from the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana) as the actual Fayetteville, GA home used as the setting was recently sold to new owners and is reported to soon be listed on AirBnB.

But for those who didn’t have $300k to purchase a piece of Netflix nostalgia — or the dough to drop on a potential stay in the AirBnB Upside Down — this Halloween season, DC’s own Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken will offer special half-dozen boxes of Stranger Things-themed doughnuts.

Inspired by the supernatural events of the popular TV show’s four seasons, Astro Pastry Chef Chris Kujala, an avid Stranger Things fan, has created four unique flavors:

    • “Upside-Down” Doughnut: Chocolate cake doughnut with a grey cinnamon-honey glaze, Oreo cookie crumbles and black sugar, served upside-down.
    • “Breakfast for Eleven” Doughnut: Yeasted circle doughnut topped with a maple glaze, chopped bacon, and a mini Eggo waffle
    • “Holly Jolly” Doughnut: Yeasted circle doughnut topped with a vanilla glaze and decorated with chocolate string icing and mini M&Ms to resemble Joyce Byers’ Christmas light communication with her son stuck in the Upside-Down during Stranger Things Season One.
    • Demogorgon Doughnut: Yeasted square doughnut filled with raspberry jam and topped with a red apple cider glaze, white nonpareils, chocolate buttercream and a Demogorgon made from fresh strawberries.

The doughnuts will be available in limited quantities for pre-ordered pick up at Astro’s G Street and Falls Church locations beginning on Monday, October 3rd through the end of the month. Sadly, you can’t order them with your mind; they must be pre-ordered with 24 hour notice.
