[Vid] Presidential Pardon? Meet the Thanksgiving Turkeys

As Thanksgiving approaches, the biggest stars of the day — the turkeys — were headed to the White House expecting a pardon.

The Willard InterContinental Washington, D.C., traditionally hosts the official White House Turkeys overnight, ahead of their ceremonial pardon by the President of the United States.

Keeping them in luxe lodgings, the turkeys enjoy a suite and some pampering, though hotel sources tell KSM they do not actually sleep on the beds — nor do the two stay close together. They don’t always stay in the same room every room, and plastic is placed throughout the room to keep everything clean and tidy.

The 2024 Presidential Turkeys were a pair of toms, male turkeys, named Peach and Blossom. The two selected turkeys were introduced to a crowd anxiously awaiting their debut at the Willard. Having been acclimated to crowds and attention, they appeared to enjoy the spotlight, posing for pictures with guests, and offering frequent gobbles.

After their pardon, Peach and Blossom will retire to Farm America in Minnesota where they will serve as agricultural ambassadors.

Happy Thanksgiving!
