New Parking App Rolls Out in DC, Promises Stress-Free Reservations

DC drivers tired of circling blocks in search of a spot may find relief in a new parking reservation tool just launched by Joyce Parking.

The company, a division of Douglas Development, has introduced Destination Manager, making it possible for drivers to book parking spaces in advance, directly through the Joyce Parking website or Google Maps.

What sets the Joyce Parking experience apart? An integration with Google Maps streamlines the reservation process for everyday users of the navigation platform. Whether heading to work, a Nationals game, or a concert, drivers can now plan ahead and secure parking in some of DC’s busiest neighborhoods with just a few clicks.

“Our focus has always been on making the parking process as easy and carefree as possible,” said William Torres, Director of Parking at Douglas Development. “This state-of-the-art technology will make parking in Washington, DC more convenient than ever.”

Joyce Parking’s move positions it competitively alongside established apps like ParkWhiz, SpotHero, and ParkMobile, all of which have a presence in DC.

While those platforms also offer advance reservations, the new Destination Manager tool gives Joyce an edge in customization. In addition to standard reservations, the system can manage monthly permits for employees and handle dynamic rate adjustments in real time — something most consumer-facing apps don’t offer.

ParkMobile, which DC already uses for metered street parking, remains a staple for short-term parkers, while SpotHero and ParkWhiz dominate in private garage reservations. However, Joyce’s new platform takes a more integrated, B2B-focused approach, catering to landlords, tenants, and regular commuters in a way the others just don’t.

With over 10 million square feet in its real estate portfolio, Douglas Development’s in-house parking division is betting big on improved tech and convenience.

Torres, with nearly three decades in DC’s parking market, says it’s all about removing friction for customers: “Washington drivers no longer have to worry about whether there will be an available parking space waiting for them when they head into the city.”

For now, Joyce Parking operates facilities mainly in downtown DC, and with this new tool, they just may be setting a new local standard for how the city parks.
