Miss District of Columbia 2023, Jude Maboné, stood high above the city she’s been representing for the last year, taking in the monuments and watching the gleaming sunset reflect off its iconic buildings. With only a few days left in her reign, she well deserved to bask in her goodbye.

Earlier this week, scholarship program sponsors, judges, supporters, and more than a handful of “forever” Miss DCs gathered with Maboné for a “Sugar & Champagne” reception in the Capitol Overlook of the 1331 Maryland residences for a rare chance to take in its incredible DC views.

In advance of this Saturday’s competition, which will be held at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School — and at which she will crown her successor, she offered her gratitude to all of those who contributed to making her year and her time at Miss America so memorable. She also reminded that she’ll be putting the program’s scholarship dollars to good use, heading off to grad school in the coming weeks!

But there is one last chance to celebrate Maboné and see who will follow her to represent the District of Columbia at Miss America!
