Michael Schlow Opens Nostalgic “The Riggsby” in Carlyle Hotel
DC’s been salivating over this latest restaurant opening… and by all accounts Schlow satisfies!
Award-winning chef Michael Schlow opened his second DC restaurant last week. The Riggsby, in the Carlyle Hotel, is a “whimsical” neighborhood restaurant with a “nostalgic” American menu.
“The Riggsby will pay homage to a bygone era but still feel current,” Schlow explained in a press release. “I want our guests to feel like they’ve just walked into a really great cocktail party. My hope is that The Riggsby feels comfortable and approachable, that it becomes a ‘go-to’ neighborhood spot.”
Apparently Schlow was inspired by his parents’ generation’s cocktail parties. You’ll feel like you’re at a throwback supper club… especially when you order a mid-century modern classic cocktail like a Harvey Wallbanger. Then feast on such favorites as Oysters with Spicy Cucumber Mignonette; Smoked Trout with Beets and Horseradish, Seared Scallops with Mushrooms, Peas and Onions; and Prime New York Strip “Filet” with Reininger’s world-class Béarnaise sauce after you’ve noshed on some retro inspired bar snacks.
The Riggsby is currently dinner service only. But stop drooling — breakfast and brunch are coming.
