Kick Off 2020 With These Four Festive New Year’s Day Brunches

Commemorate the start of 2020 — even if you’ve planned to go all out to end December — by brunching to bring in the New Year. Whether you need hair o’ the dog to combat a hangover or fresh green juice to kick off your healthy resolutions, we’ve found four unique brunches on January 1st that will make you feel like your (best) self again.

Party a little too hard the night before? Jack Rose hosts its annual Hangover Hog Roast, just in time to roll out of bed late — from 3-10 pm. There will be plates of pork and southern sides (like black-eyed peas for good luck), discounted whiskey flights, and cocktail and beer specials. Sober up (or not) to sports as four flat screens at the bar will be playing the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl.

Keep the NYE party going with a drag performance at City Tap Dupont, which will host its famous Drag Bottomless Brunch with unlimited mimosas, beermosas and bloody marys for $18. City Tap Penn Quarter also hosts a New Year’s Day themed bottomless brunch, albeit without the dress-up and dancing, for $10.

Gerrard Street Kitchen in the Darcy Hotel moves Boxing Day back a week and holds its first 2020 brunch, a Boxing Day (inspired) Brunch, from 10 am to 3 pm with a nod to its culinary traditions. Those intent on setting healthy New Year’s resolutions can choose from menu items like the Açai Bowl, Avocado Toast with Poached Egg, and Tuscan Kale Salad, as well as a selection of smoothies and cold press juices, while everyone else continues their holiday overindulgences just a day longer… with Gerrard Street’s own unique Pimm’s Cup with fresh fruit, bottomless mimosas, and Bloody Mary bar.

Or bask in a brunch deal! Kick your new year off right with a Hangover Brunch at The Alex Speakeasy in the Graham Hotel. Enjoy $1 mimosas throughout the meal when you purchase any entrée.  Cheers!
