Introducing the New Audi (Soccer) Field

Last weekend DC opened a super fresh sporting destination.  Audi Field on the Capitol Riverfront’s Buzzard Point is the new home for MLS team DC United, and this state-of-the-art urban facility opened its doors to fans (Saturday, July 14th) as the local soccer superstars faced off against the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps.

Inside there are 31 luxury suites, a bike valet, and ultimately 500,000 total square feet of mixed-use space on site.  In addition to sports and event entertainment, guests to Audi Field can enjoy an a world-class culinary experience, one of the first of its kind in a sporting arena: World-renowned chef and DC resident José Andrés has partnered with DC United to oversee all Audi Field concessions.

It used to be the Capital’s industrial backyard, but now, Buzzard Point is a premier riverfront destination for urban living, working, and playing.  “Buzzard Point will serve to “fill the gap” between the SW Waterfront and our Capitol Riverfront neighborhood,” suggests Michael Stevens, Capitol Riverfront BID President. And the all-new Audi Field is indicative of this area’s economic surge.
