Fairmont Opens New Courtyard Bar (And a Mid-Week Secret Ceremony)
Moët, Veuve, and even Cristäl were popped to celebrate the opening of Fairmont Washington, DC’s new Courtyard Bar! The permanent installation in the center of the West End hotel debuted to much fanfare — including special guests like Dame Karen Pierce, British Ambassador to the United States.
Guests enjoyed passed food that will be available on the Courtyard Bar’s menu, caviar, a raw bar, and even Fairmont’s signature chocolate as they mingled under and around a retractable canopy now situated over a lengthy bar and seating area in front of a peaceful water fountain.
A variety of bubbly options, wines, and even Fairmont’s new signature gin and accompanying botanicals were — and will be — on offer.
On warm days, the Courtyard Bar is a refreshing urban oasis. On cooler nights, toasty fire pits, heaters, and soft lighting add to the ambiance.
To fête the opening, a bottle of vintage champagne was sabred, and this tradition will continue on Wednesday evenings at dusk in the Courtyard Bar. Those who observe the ceremony will be treated to a taste of the sabred bottle.
The Courtyard Bar is open daily from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 2:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and is available for receptions and private events.
