DowntownDC Holiday Market Now Open!
The 15th Annual Downtown Holiday Market officially opened on Friday afternoon with a ribbon cutting, carolers, and shopping!
Located at F Street NW between 7th and 9th Streets NW, the beloved outdoor market welcomed attendees with an opening celebration and remarks from DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) President & CEO Neil Albert and DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) Director Kristi Whitfield.
“We are here to spread holiday cheer in our city and help Washingtonians and visitors to make memories and find really unique local gifts,” said Albert, alluding to the 150+ vendors on site selling art, candy, clothes, crafts, jewelry and more.
But the market is more than just shopping, with on-stage performances taking place multiple times daily from such talents as a cappella group Clear Harmonies Carolers, sultry acoustic vocalist Emma G, and Latin jazz band Afro Nuevo.
Don’t miss out of the featured “Made in DC” Booth. “Our local makers are the most creative, the most amazing, the most fun makers, and… with 200,000 pairs of feet walking through, I think this is one of the best venues in the area to [give them] a shot…” Whitfield said before the grand opening.
And from Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyon McDuffy, also on hand to open the market — which will run through December 23rd — “Come down and visit and see the types of things we are doing in all of these booths that line F Street. We really do have a thriving local economy where the creatives are doing some of the most amazing things.”
