This New Logan Circle Resto Hotspot Has Tasty Plates and One of DC’s Largest Outdoor Patios

Tasty plates and a cool patio are always a big draw, so Logan Circle’s Dovetail in the Viceroy Hotel was destined to be a popular neighborhood hotspot when it opened in May 2022.

This New American restaurant has something for everyone on a finely curated menu that features dishes that “incorporate unique flavors from the many cultures celebrated in [DC].” Drinks also highlight local spirits.

And did we mention that Dovetail is year-round indoor/outdoor and has one of DC’s largest dining patios?!

Dovetail’s Kimchi Eggs

“The season’s produce is our guide for creating flavorful and memorable dishes at Dovetail,” says Executive Chef James Gee. “Each dish honors the region.”

And while that trendy massive tomahawk steak — that seems to be showing up everywhere lately — jumps out from the menu at first glance, and any of the Roseda Farms meats (burger and steak) or Chef Gee’s famous pastas are always too tempting, too, we’d argue that it’s actually Dovetail’s app and small plates offerings that are particularly interesting.

Our take from the taste test: Kimchi Eggs were devilishly delicious bites packed with a flavorful punch, the Whole Lotta Burrata boasted anchovy umami deep into its sauce, and the Peachy Keen salad’s sweet fruit paired artfully with its piles of salty Iberico ham.

So head over early to nab the best courtyard firepit table where you can get scene-y, share those nibbles year-round, and see what else “dovetails.”

Dovetail (1430 Rhode Island Ave NW) is open for dinner on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5-10 p.m.
