DC Goes Crazy for Off the Records’ Collectible Political Coasters

Lately, DC’s been on a political roller coaster.  But at least now it’s easy to have a drink with — or slam your drink down on the face of — your favorite political figures to celebrate and scorn.

The Hay-Adams‘  Off the Record invites you to have and hoard more than 25 collectable coaster versions, with more likely on the way.

The newest creations are: Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Emmanuel Macron, created by politico cartoonist/Pulitzer Prize winner Matt Wuerker; and Robert Mueller, created by one of our favorite cartoonists Kevin “KAL” Kallaugher.

“These coasters are great conversation pieces for our guests that come to experience cocktails and dinner in Off The Record,” explained The Hay-Adams Vice President & General Manager Hans Bruland.

Off The Record has a tradition of displaying political cartoons.  There is an expansive collection decorating the walls from The Art Wood Collection of Caricature and Cartoons (which took 60 years for Arthur Wood to amass), now owned by the Library of Congress.

What should you perch atop your politico?  Off the Record’s summer cocktail highlights include the Twenty-First Amendment with Maker’s Mark whiskey, Pimm’s No. 1, Sprite, mint leaves and orange; the Chili Passion Martini with Captain Morgan passion fruit rum, chili-infused vodka, cranberry juice, passion fruit purée and ginger syrup; Vive La France with Pastis, vodka, lemon juice, strawberry syrup and soda, and the Mueller’s Trump Card with Pyrat XO rum, vodka, ginger beer and lime juice. 

Cocktails range in price from $18 to $19 and guests are welcome and encouraged to take their coaster with them when they leave.
