Date Announced for 5th Annual Dîner en Blanc DC

Good news for those who like sporting costumes and attending secret society dinners.

DC has been tapped tp host its own Le Dîner en Blanc for the 5th year in a row.  It won’t be until Saturday, August 25 (6-10 p.m.), but the annual affair promises “another unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic, as it acquires a secret, public location, revealed only minutes prior to the commencement of the event.”

This year will be the event’s 30 year anniversary of its start in Paris, and guest count will increase to include 5,000.  Last year’s, Le Dîner en Blanc sold out in minutes to a max crowd of 4,500.

Registration for the unique experience happens in three stages: Phase 1 is for members who attended the previous year; Phase 2 is for new members who have been referred by Phase 1 attendees; and Phase 3 is for guests who signed up on the waiting list. Those interested can sign up here.

What should you expect?

You’ll wear all white and bring your own (size specific) white tables, chairs and table settings, as well as your own French picnic.  (Or rent from Rentals to Remember and order a professionally prepared picnic basket from this year’s curated chef.)  You’ll also want to pre-purchase your wine and champagne from this year’s exclusive sponsors: Champagne Jacquart and wine from the vineyard of Pedroncelli.  Over the course of the evening, 5,000 guests will converge upon a secret location and dine amid live music, entertainment and dancing.  Then, they pack everything up and leave the place without a trace.
