CityCenterDC Lights Holiday Tree with 10th Anniversary Surprises
CityCenterDC held its 10th annual Holiday Tree Lighting celebration, adding in a few big surprises to celebrate the anniversary of the live/work/play area in the center of DC’s bustling downtown.
Emceed by NBC4 anchor Eun Yang, this year’s event featured an expanded program in addition to the lighting of the 75-foot tree. The Revels were again on hand to entertain with carols and festive songs; There was a birthday cake presentation to celebrate 10 years, and a surprise fireworks display!
Before and after the program, visitors enjoyed face painting, balloon animals, gourmet popcorn, cotton candy, and mini donuts, and characters including a gingerbread man, nutcracker, and snowman were available for pictures.
From the stage, Hines’ Timothy Lowery announced CityCenterDC’s commemorative handmade, limited-edition ornament available for purchase throughout the holiday season, $50. The brass beaded ornament’s sales will benefit Children’s National Hospital.
To continue the holiday cheer throughout the season, CityCenterDC will debut Haute for the Holidays, a new tree installation in collaboration with Washington DC’s beloved artists Maggie O’Neill, Annie Broderick, and No Kings Collective. Each artist will create an interpretation of a festive nine-foot holiday tree. Visitors are welcome to explore those enchanting displays starting the first week of December until January 7th, 2023.
