This breakfast sandwich pop-up got so popular that it had to post up permanently.

Andre McCain’s Butter Me Up was a trial run during a testy year, launching with a pop-up partnership at HalfSmoke in May 2020. But after selling over 72,000 breakfast sandwiches, Butter Me Up had enough bread (and butter!) to open its own first physical location… coming in July 2021.

“We launched Butter Me Up at the beginning of the pandemic when morale was down and restaurants were forced to close for indoor and outdoor dining,” said McCain. “Out of the gate, we had tremendous support from our core customers.  And now, a year later, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to curate a dining experience that is authentically Butter Me Up.  This new location will also allow us to continue to grow and expand the offerings available at both Butter Me Up and HalfSmoke.”

Breakfast sammy aficionados will seek out innovative, yet familiar breakfast sandwich staples at the new Logan Circle spot (1409 T Street Nw) — including new menu items that are exclusive to the location. Offerings will be divided into six categories: adulting, just feed me please, breakfast sammies, dinner for breakfast, griddle me this, and cake & eat it, too. Traditional brunch cocktails, as well as craft beer and wine, will also be served.

Also, awwwwww… Each sandwich at the new location comes with a pay-it-forward action card — like “Write A Thank You Note To Someone Who Wouldn’t Expect It” or “Spend One Hour Doing Something You Really Enjoy,” to encourage individuals to spread love throughout the community.
