BTS! Cirque du Soleil’s VOLTA Comes to Tysons
Cirque du Soleil returns to the Washington, DC area with VOLTA, a captivating voyage of discovery. VOLTA explores the themes of celebrating differences and unique qualities in a world where technology often isolates people from one another rather than freeing them.
“VOLTA tells a very positive story about self acceptance,” explains tour publicist Steven Ross. The overall message is that “the best version of yourself is the true you.”
In this newest creation by Cirque du Soleil — its 41st original production since 1984, and its 18th show presented under the Big Top — VOLTA uses sports disciplines and features electronic music (by Anthony Gonzalez from M83). “We’ve taken sports disciplines from the streets and put them onto the stage with a very urban feeling,” according to Ross.
“It’s something that you have never seen in Cirque du Soleil before. VOLTA is a mix of new disciplines: BMX, roller skating, double dutch… and some things very traditional from the circus.”
