Broadway at The National Unveils Star-Studded 2025/26 Season
The curtain is rising on what promises to be a most dazzling season at The National Theatre. Broadway at The National has announced its highly anticipated 2025/26 season lineup, and it’s packed with Tony Award® winners, fresh-from-Broadway premieres, and fan-favorite musicals. Running from November 2025 through August 2026, the seven-show season package includes six DC premieres and the magical return of a beloved Disney classic.
Season ticket packages are on sale now, starting at $350, offering audiences the chance to experience a year of extraordinary theater right in the heart of the nation’s capital.
DC Premieres and a Tale as Old as Time
This season’s mainstage lineup kicks off with the DC premiere of Some Like It Hot (Nov. 25, 2025), a jazzy, toe-tapping adaptation of the classic film that’s racked up four Tony Awards® and a Grammy® for Best Musical Theater Album. Set in Prohibition-era Chicago, it follows two musicians on the run after witnessing a mob hit — and the wild ride that ensues.
The season continues with the visually stunning Water for Elephants (Dec. 9, 2025), adapted from the bestselling novel and hailed as “the best new musical on Broadway.” Directed by Tony nominee Jessica Stone and featuring a score by PigPen Theatre Co., this circus-set story is a heart-filling tale of second chances and unexpected love.
Next up is Stereophonic (Feb. 10, 2026), the most Tony-nominated play in Broadway history. With a script by David Adjmi and original music by Arcade Fire’s Will Butler, it offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at a 1970s rock band on the verge of superstardom — and implosion.
A timeless fairytale returns as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Mar. 18, 2026) takes the stage in a brand-new touring production, the first in over 25 years. With original creatives from the Tony Award®-winning team, including Alan Menken, Tim Rice, and Linda Woolverton, this reimagined classic will dazzle new generations with spectacular sets and costumes.
Spring blooms with the arrival of The Great Gatsby (May 12, 2026), an opulent new musical adaptation of Fitzgerald’s novel. With a jazz- and pop-infused score and choreography by Dominique Kelley, the roaring 1920s come to vibrant life in a glittering tale of love and longing.
Summer heats up with Suffs (June 16, 2026), Shaina Taub’s bold and resonant musical about the suffragist movement. A sweeping and deeply human portrait of the women who changed the course of history, Suffs is a Tony Award®-winning triumph of storytelling and song.
The season concludes with the tender and powerful The Notebook (Aug. 18, 2026). Featuring music by Ingrid Michaelson and direction by Broadway veterans Michael Greif and Schele Williams, this adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel explores love that transcends time, memory, and circumstance.
Even More to See: Returning Favorites and Seasonal Specials
In addition to the core season, Season Ticket Holders gain early access to eight special engagements, including smash hits like Hadestown (Nov. 18, 2025), The Book of Mormon (Apr. 28, 2026), Beetlejuice (July 7, 2026), The Wiz (Apr. 7, 2026), and Clue (Jan. 27, 2026). Holiday treats include Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical (Dec. 30, 2025) and the high-energy Hip Hop Nutcracker (Dec. 19, 2025). Rounding out the specials is the 30th anniversary tour of STOMP (Jan. 16, 2026), the explosive percussion show that’s thrilled audiences around the world.
