Not everyone gets to have radio and television personalities, celebrity chefs, and an international DJ join them at their Prom at one of the hottest venues in the Capital.  That’s just for Best Buddies!

At a magical event for DC’s Best Buddies Capital Region, the Ronald Reagan Building transformed into a prom perfect paradise, complete with DJ Neekola, hosts Tommy McFly of The Tommy Show and NBC4 Anchor Wendy Rieger, a silent auction of fundraising items that would top anyone’s any wish list, and an array of participating celebrity chefs with their Best Buddies sous chefs!

Best Buddies PROM2019, a modern take on the traditional gala, features simultaneous parties for both students and adults. While students danced the night away and enjoyed photo booths and plenty of food and soft drinks, adults had their own exclusive chef tastings, an open bar, and that silent auction featuring one of-a-kind items and experiences.

Over the last three decades, Best Buddies has grown to an international movement of inclusion and opportunity for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).  Across the Greater Washington region, there are 178 middle school, high school and college School Friendship chapters creating one-to-one friendships between students with and without IDD.

Surpassing $1 million dollars in monies raised, the program has opened 64 School Friendship chapters, supported more than 25 jobs participants at integrated workplaces, and facilitated leadership development opportunities for nearly 200 individuals with IDD.

Best Buddies PROM provides an avenue to fundraise for these programs as well as a chance for everyone involved to feel like the Queen/King of the Prom.
