Crying in D.C., Washington D.C.’s local guide to the hottest crying spots in the District, is partnering with Madewell Jeans for Cry n’ Vibe, Retail Therapy: a curated, Women’s History Month event combining a facilitated conversation about women’s relationships with fashion, bodies, and self-image with a live Madewell shopping experience. WHY IT MATTERS:

Women’s History Month is a time where we honor and celebrate the deep and rich history of women, with fashion being a deeply underexplored dimension of that history. From corsets that restricted movement to sizing systems designed for a narrow ideal, to the feminism surrounding women wearing pants and denim at the turn of the century, what women wear has been used to define, diminish, and control. Retail Therapy creates space for women to name that history, challenge the shame often attached to fashion and body image, and reclaim how they feel in their clothes.
