Winter Restaurant Week Brings Big Flavor to the Coldest Week of the Year

Just when the post-holiday lull sets in, Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week returns with a welcome reason to book a table. Winter Restaurant Week runs January 19–25, 2026, serving up a weeklong sampler of the region’s dining scene, from polished prix-fixe menus in the District to comfort-driven cooking across Maryland and Northern Virginia.

Hosted by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), the winter edition invites diners to graze, gather, and dig in at hundreds of participating restaurants. Brunch and lunch menus will be offered at $25 or $35 per person, while dinner menus land at $40, $55, or $65 — priced to encourage multi-course indulgence without full splurge territory. Many restaurants will sweeten the deal with optional beverage pairings, including cocktails, wine, and an expanding slate of zero-proof sips.

Winter Restaurant Week has become a reliable excuse to eat with intention during an otherwise quiet dining season. Chefs often use the moment to flex a little creativity: Think slow-braised mains, silky soups, citrus-bright starters, and desserts designed for lingering over a second forkful. For diners, it’s a chance to revisit old favorites or finally try the place that’s been sitting on the “someday” list.

The event’s regional reach is part of its appeal. Neighborhood bistros, buzzy newcomers, and long-standing dining rooms across DC, Maryland, and Virginia all take part, creating a choose-your-own culinary crawl that can stretch from weekday lunches to weekend feasts.

Planning ahead is key. Beginning Monday, December 8, diners can browse the growing list of participating restaurants, preview menus, and make reservations at RWDMV.com. Popular spots tend to book quickly, especially for dinner services, so early clicks can mean better bites.
