Global Women Artists Take the Spotlight at The Watergate
A vivid celebration of global creativity has arrived at The Watergate Hotel, where Women United is now on view into the summer. The exhibition brings together a dynamic roster of contemporary women artists (including Flávia Junqueira, Athena Anastasiou, Emilie Picard, Lesley Bodzy, and Ellen de Meijer) each offering bold, boundary-pushing perspectives across mediums.
The exhibition’s opening act arrived with a playful pop of pageantry, as Junqueira unveiled a signature installation that transforms the hotel’s Next Whiskey Bar space into a buoyant, balloon-filled dreamscape. Known for her evocative explorations of memory, history, and childhood wonder, the Brazilian artist brought a sense of surreal spectacle… designed to delight and disarm.
Additional pieces in the exhibit offer both striking visuals and sensory storytelling. And more pieces are arriving! Through June 30, Women United will deliver a compelling, cross-cultural snapshot of contemporary art, set within one of DC’s most iconic destinations.
FREE and available to view at the Watergate or when dining at Kingbird.
