Westin Crystal City Has Landed a Glow-Up

Crystal City just got a little more polished and a lot more plush. The Westin Crystal City is back in business after a top-to-bottom renovation, and let’s just say: she understood the assignment.

Just steps from the Crystal City Metro station and a quick hop from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, this hotel has always had location on lock. Now, it’s matching that convenience with a full-on aesthetic upgrade. Think: less “standard stay,” more stylish stopover.

The redo touches everything… 223 guest rooms and suites, reworked lobby and lounge spaces, refreshed meeting areas, and a brand-new restaurant concept waiting in the wings. The design leans into Potomac River energy (calm, fluid, quietly luxe) with soft neutrals, warm textures, and lighting that says “you could answer emails here…or absolutely not.”

The lobby, in particular, is having a moment. Gone is the pass-through energy; in its place is a social hub that practically dares you to sit down, sip something, and stay awhile. It’s giving business casual meets low-key chic.

Upstairs, the rooms are clean, crisp, and cleverly designed for the modern traveler. Expect the signature Heavenly® Beds (yes, still elite), big city views, fast Wi-Fi, and enough thoughtful touches to make toggling between work mode and wind-down feel seamless.

Behind the scenes, General Manager Vikas Lalwani, a longtime Marriott insider, is steering the ship into this next chapter, with a focus on making the hotel feel less like a pit stop and more like a place you actually want to be. (Translation: connection, comfort, and just enough polish to justify that “treat yourself” energy.)

And because no DC-area glow-up is complete without a proper coffee situation, the lobby will also house a full-service bar pouring from local favorite Commonwealth Joe. Caffeine, but make it curated.

With new leadership additions like Director of Sales and Marketing Handan Duvall and a design that balances productivity with peace, the Westin Crystal City is stepping confidently into its next era… one where business trips feel a bit more like boutique stays, and layovers come with better lighting.
