SUMMARY:PNC Alexandria Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The PNC Alexandria Half Marathon\, Northern Virginia’s marquee spring running event\, debuts on Sunday\, April 27\, 2025\, marking an exciting evolution of the PNC Parkway Classic. Still home to Alexandria’s centric race previously known as the PNC Parkway Classic\, this race\, produced by Pacers Running and sponsored by PNC Bank\, brings thousands of runners and spectators throughout the DC Metro region and beyond. Offering a fresh perspective on the historic George Washington Memorial Parkway during the Springtime\, this year’s event takes an exciting step forward with the introduction of the half marathon distance. \nSince 1984\, the Parkway Classic has been among the most scenic and spacious distance races on the East Coast. From the serene beauty of our course meandering through the finest spring bloom in the DC area\, to beautiful views of the Potomac and the charming streets of Alexandria\, the Alexandria Half is a journey that celebrates the simple joys of road racing while enjoying one of our National Parks. Since its inception formerly as the Parkway Classic\, it has raised close to one million dollars for local and regional charities and organizations\, such the Dunbar Alexandria- Olympic Boys + Girls Club\, which is this year’s sole benefactor. \nThe race takes place on the last day of National Park Week\, an annual week for celebration and recognition of our National Parks. National Park Week will be observed from Saturday\, April 19 through Sunday\, April 27\, 2025. \nNew Race Route \nThe PNC Alexandria Half Marathon  will replace the traditional 10-mile distance\, offering runners 13.1 miles through the heart of Old Town and nearly 10 miles of scenic out-and-back running along the beautiful George Washington Parkway. The signature adult race\, now beginning at 7:30 a.m.\, will feature two distance options for runners – 13.1 Mile or 5K for runners of all skill levels. The half marathon and 5K will kick off on King Street in front of City Hall and conclude on N Union Street. After the adult race\, the 600-meter Kids Dash\, sponsored by The Kidz Doc\, a fun\, family-friendly event for children under 12 will take place at 10:30 AM. Each participant will receive a bib number;  after the race\, kids will be rewarded with a medal and a post-run treat. As the race concludes along the Potomac in Alexandria\, participants can celebrate in the beer garden for adults over the age of 21 courtesy of Port City Brewing Co. In addition\, athletes can look forward to a high-quality experience\, including a technical race tee\, a finisher medal\, a free photo booth\, and chip-timed results.
